Centre Says Ethanol Blending Was Introduced Through a Phased Process, Not an Overnight Decision
The Central Government has clarified that E20 ethanol blending was introduced through a phased and long-term process rather than an overnight decision. It stated that the automobile industry conducted extensive testing before implementation and emphasized that the primary objective of the E20 programme is to reduce carbon emissions.
According to the government, E20 ethanol has been rolled out in multiple stages to ensure a systematic transition. It emphasized that ethanol blending is a long-term process designed to achieve broader environmental and energy objectives rather than an abrupt policy change.
The government further stated that the automobile industry carried out extensive testing before the implementation of E20 ethanol. The comprehensive evaluation was conducted to ensure compatibility and preparedness for the phased introduction of the blended fuel.
Highlighting the primary objective of the initiative, the government said that the E20 ethanol programme is aimed at reducing carbon emissions. The statement underscored that the phased implementation, supported by extensive testing by the automobile industry, reflects a structured approach toward achieving cleaner fuel usage and lower emissions.
